LIFEGROUP FAQ's
What happens at a LifeGroup?
Whether you're gathering to watch football, study the Bible, do devotions or go hiking, the goal remains the same: to have a place to laugh, grow and do life together. We have groups ranging from studies to hiking, watching football to outreach.
How do I join a LifeGroup?
There are 3 ways to join: 1) LifeGroups Launch (2 wks prior to each season) 2) Sundays at the Connection Center 3) Online. Browse available groups here
How do I LEAD a LifeGroup? Do I need previous experience?
You can fill out the LG Leaders application here, and you don't need any previous experience! Any experience you’ve had leading a group in the past is helpful, but we invite you to sign-up even if this is the first time you would be taking on a leadership role. Everyone has to start somewhere!
How long do LifeGroups last?
We have two (10 to 12)-week LifeGroup seasons: Spring & Fall. Our Spring groups usually begin mid-February and end in May, and our Fall groups begin late September and end early December. Life is busy, so this makes it easy to join a group without feeling like you're giving up your whole life. While we do have a start and end, we strongly encourage our groups to continue to gather outside of our seasons.
What types of groups are available?
1. GROWTH
These are any groups focused on personal or spiritual growth, including Bible or book studies, devotions, sermon discussion, men's & women's groups, leadership and more
2. ACTION
An action group is any group that has a missional focus, such as homeless outreaches, community service, men's and women's shelter, mission teams, etc.
3. INTEREST
Interest groups can include studies and missional components, but are primarily gathered around a common interest. i.e. Monday Night Football, bowling, hobbies, hiking, group dinners, even watching the Bachelor, etc.
4. MESSAGE RECAP GROUPS (NEW)
Each week, we will send out a list of questions based on the weekend's sermon, purposed to initiate discussion on how we can apply the message to our daily lives. Message Recap Groups will gather like any other group (in homes, coffee shops, etc).
Why should I join a LifeGroup?
We believe that church is best experienced in community, which truly happens beyond Sundays. Acts chapter 2 describes the early church, which is what we try and model our LifeGroups after:
Acts 2:42-47 - They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
